DP denounces abuses of public funds in the Municipality of Tepelena, Rama's

The Spokesperson for Anti-Corruption in the Democratic Party, Genta Vangjeli, has denounced the abuse of funds in the Municipality of Tepelena.

Vangjeli denounces that the Socialist Party has decided to nominate for this municipality another name previously denounced by the opposition, the former commander of the Republican Guard, Gramos Sako.

According to her, his file in the vetting process raises serious doubts about the selection standards and moral filters that candidates for public positions should have. Regarding public funds, the company '2T shpk', owned by Gramos Sako's brother, according to Spending Data, has benefited from around 103 million euros from public contracts.

Vangjeli stated that, from the Municipality of Tepelena alone, this company has benefited from 1.8 million euros for water supply projects in Salari, Nivicë, Rexhina and Peshta.

Despite the payments made, residents of the area report a lack of water in Salari and Rexhina, while in Peshtan the water supply has not been functioning for 5 years.

Vangjeli stated that these facts are clear evidence of abuse of public funds and require the urgent intervention of SPAK for a full investigation of the suspicious tenders conducted by the Tepelena Municipality.

She emphasizes that it is clear that the Socialist Party candidate will prioritize tenders for her brother's company, and not the well-being of the citizens of Tepelena.

"The Tepelena Municipality, led by representatives of the Socialist Party, has shown that it has never focused on the well-being of citizens, but rather on the appropriation of public funds into the pockets of local leaders."

With the blessing of the mayor, Tërmet Peçi, after Lorenc Bami, the next director who has ensured that the taxes of the Tepelena residents end up in the pockets of their families is Arta Shaha, who has held the position of Executive Director for cultural activities at this municipality.

According to official Spending Data data, her husband, Çelik Shaha, in a clear conflict of interest, has benefited from public funds procured by the Tepelena Municipality for cultural and other projects, worth at least 154 thousand euros.
