Zhupa from Durrës: TID project, clientelism that destroys the city's

Democratic Party MP Ina Zhupa denounced today from Durrës the "TID" project, for the revitalization and urban redevelopment of several areas of the city.

Zhupa has described the project as corrupt, which, according to her, does not aim to protect the heritage and history of Durrës, but rather to create new spaces for clientelistic interests.

The MP stated that the project plans to demolish the homes of several old citizens of Duyrrask, in order to build new buildings. She emphasized that the DP will oppose the project in all forms.

Zhupa's full statement:

I am located in the city of Durrës, I came here to denounce the famous "TID" project for the revitalization and urban redevelopment of several areas of Durrës.

In fact, it is simply a corrupt and clientelist project that has no importance in protecting the heritage or history of Durrës but in creating new spaces for clientelist interests.
Here we are in a typical case in which the citizens who will follow it can judge for themselves.

This is a house that is qualified by the TID project to be demolished. In front of here there was a sign indicating that this wall is an Ottoman wall from the year 1500 and should be protected by the state and not destroyed by the state.

Meanwhile, it is predicted that it will collapse and just 5 steps away, a new building is being built in an area that was once a flower garden. This building is being built with concrete, with piles in an archaeological area and very close to the “Jani Kukuzeli” music school. Why is this happening in Durrës?!

Because this project, which is filled with red dots for houses that should be demolished by the old Durrës residents, those who are the local residents of Durrës, who have the history and heritage of Durrës in their experiences and memories, has only one purpose, it aims to create new public spaces for clientelistic purposes.

Why should an old house from the 1500s, owned by the gentleman here, be demolished to build a new palace on the site of an adjacent flowerbed?!

There is no justification! This entire project has no justification! And therefore it will be opposed by us in all forms, in all instances, in the courts, in Parliament and everywhere.

Because Durrës will have to be preserved for its heritage, for its history, and for the stories of local residents, and what is the identity of this city must be protected, not new construction for clientelistic purposes. /CNA
