Partial elections in 5 municipalities/ Celibashi: We will have the results

The Chief Commissioner of the Central Election Commission, Ilirjan Celibashi, spoke today about the partial elections that will be held on November 9 in the municipalities of Mat, Vlora, Tepelena, Berat and Cerrik. In an interview for MCN TV, Celibashi announced that the final list of voters will be published in a few days, while adding that there are over 300 thousand voters.

He said that within 24 hours, that is, by November 10, we could have the election results. As he has announced in his other appearances, Celibashi said that in these elections, the use of artificial intelligence will be experimented with, for counting ballots. He indicated that this experiment will have no significance in the result.

"We do not yet have the final list of voters, in a few days the list will be released and we will have the final number of voters. There are over 300 thousand voters. Judging by the type of elections and the commitment that these elections require, I believe that we will have the results of the mayoral elections by November 10. The legal procedure is what it is, the counting and evaluation of ballots is manual, but we will experiment with the use of artificial intelligence for counting ballots as an experiment and it will have no significance in the result, but we will see how an application will count ballots in the future.

The cost of a vote is 11 euros per vote, because we do not have external voting for these elections. For electronic voting, the cost is not a problem, the lack of full trust of a part of the vote in this process has caused us not to apply electronic voting on a large scale. The last elections have convinced even some skeptics that in terms of the integrity of this voting method, it would be worth expanding it, " said Celibashi. /CNA
