Parliament is waiting for Arben Ahmetaj's salary on the run

The Parliament has stopped the salary of the former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, despite the fact that he still enjoys the mandate of the deputy.

The Assembly has taken away Ahmetaj's monthly salary as well as deprived him of any other financial benefit that I attribute to him as a member of the Parliament of Albania.

It should be noted that the decision entered into force on July 14, the day when the Assembly voted to remove Ahmetaj's immunity, thus paving the way for his arrest, after including the investigative file of the incinerators case.

In the session of July 14, the Assembly approved with 117 votes in favor of the majority and the opposition, none against and 3 abstentions, SPAK's request for the removal of Ahmetaj's immunity.

In fact, Ahmetaj still enjoys the mandate of the deputy since the Constitution stipulates that the mandate of the deputy ends or is invalid, when he does not take the oath; when resigning from the mandate; when the mandate of the Assembly ends; when he is absent without reason for more than 6 consecutive months in the Assembly or when he is punished by a final court decision for committing a crime./ CNA
