A delegation of the "Fratelli d'Italia" party visits the Gjadri

A delegation from the "Fratelli d'Italia" party (Brothers of Italy) arrived today at the Repatriation Center in Gjadër, Lezha. According to Italian MP Sara Kelany, head of the Immigration Department, the visit aims to verify the functioning of the centers.

"We want to refute, with facts, the distorted and exploitative narrative that these structures do not work, or worse yet, are a waste. This project is working and, in fact, represents a model for all of Europe," Kelany had said the day before.

Part of the delegation are also leaders of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate, such as Galeazzo Bignami and Lucio Malan, as well as other leading figures such as Giovanni Donzelli and Marco Lisei.

Giorgia Meloni's government declared last year that the camps in Gjadra and Shëngjin would be used to house those who have been refused asylum and are awaiting repatriation. The implementation of the Italy-Albania agreement on the treatment of migrants arriving on Italian territory has often been the subject of debates and legal battles between the Italian government and the judiciary there. /CNA
