State Matura 2026/ Kumbaro announces stricter rules during the exams

The Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, held a press conference today regarding the conduct of the 2026 State Matura exams. Kumbaro spoke about the details of the organization of work for the smooth conduct of the exams.

"This is a very voluminous work that began in December 2025, when we approved the state matura regulation. It has been a daily process for high school graduates, starting with the online publication of exam models a few months in advance, giving them the opportunity to practice. And it has culminated with mock tests in exam centers, where the matura exams were simulated, exactly under the same conditions as they will be held on June 2, 9, 16 and 23, from logistical organization to security measures, division into classes, conducting the exam according to duration, etc.

"We have 144 exam centers across the country, there are over 170 monitors directly from the Ministry of Education in schools, it is a process that includes the Ministry of Education, the National Agency for Pre-university Education, the Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-university Education, Regional Educational Directorates, Local Educational Offices and of course the Educational Services Center", said Kumbaro.

Among other things, during her speech, the minister announced the tightening of rules and the penalties that students and monitors will face in case of their violation.

"We have imposed stricter rules and punitive measures. And the sanctions will be for both administrators and any student. Any violation of the rule during the exam process will automatically result in the student being excluded from the matura exam. It is a cost that I hope no high school graduate will have to bear, to throw away years of education just for such an unforgivable mistake ," said Kumbaro.

Regarding the publication of the thesis before the start of the exam, Kumbaro said that each sheet is identifiable and it will be revealed who drew it and where it was drawn from.

"Each sheet is identifiable by who took it out and where it was taken from. And in previous cases, the student who took it out has been identified and expelled. This cost for a joke to take it out on social networks is very high. All measures will be taken to prevent it ," said Kumbaro. /CNA
