The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, stated today in the Assembly that subjects convicted by the Criminal Amnesty Law have also benefited.

"The subjects of SPAK have also benefited from the law on criminal amnesty. During the report to the Assembly, the head of SPAK was asked by the deputy Flutura Açka about the criminal amnesty, where the technical opposition joined the majority. Dumani claimed that some subjects of SPAK benefited from the criminal amnesty.

We do not have any competence to evaluate the activity of another institution, it is within his right to approve the amnesty, subjects who have been sentenced by special courts have benefited from this law, 40 people have been exempted from punishment, 65 have had their sentences reduced , 12 from the criminal prosecution, (so the investigations are stopped) - so the assembly has the power to approve or not an amnesty. SPAK is an independent constitutional institution, the law guarantees its independence. There was political will in 2016 for the reform, it is political will to take other measures that could affect SPAK", said Dumani./ CNA
