On Monday, former Interior Minister Bledi Çuçi appeared at the Berat Prosecutor's Office.

Çuçi was called to ask about the former director of the Poliçan Mechanical Combine, Erjon Zylyftari, if he knew him or if he had met him before.

"I was asked if I had met with the former director of the Poliçan Mechanical Plant, Erion Zylyftari," Çuçi told the media.

His call was made by the Berat Prosecutor's Office for Çuçi as a person in the know to give explanations regarding the theft of a significant amount of metals in the Police Mechanical Combine, while a criminal proceeding was registered for the case in 2022, for abuse of duty.

It is learned that it was the Economic Crime Sector that started an in-depth investigation regarding the disappearance of about 50 tons of raw material "brass" from the Poliçan Mechanical Plant.

The Director of Poliçan Mechanical Plant, the Head of Finance, the Secretary, the Dispatcher and the two storekeepers are accused of having sold the raw material, profiting large sums of money. /CNA
