On Wednesday, July 23, the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime communicated the charges to Mayor Erion Veliaj, who has been in Durrës prison since February 10.

13 charges in total for several serious criminal offenses that include corruption, concealment of assets, laundering of proceeds of crime, and bringing prohibited items into the cell.

After SPAK's announcement of the communication of the charges against Veliaj, his wife, Ajola Xoxa, their associates, and other persons included in the file, the acts began to be revealed.

Throughout the week, the people who betrayed their "master" by cooperating with justice have been discovered.

Some names pass through his wife Ajola Xoxa, her most loyal people.

The first to turn herself in to justice was Adela Kondakçiu, Ajola Xoxa's former financier, who is aware of many invoices and schemes of Ajola Xoxa's NGOs, facts and evidence that have served SPAK in its investigations.

Kondakçiu is one of the key people who has been dealt with in the investigative file. Referring to the leaked communications, it turns out that he is aware of almost everything about the fictitious invoices and schemes that were used in Ajola Xoxa's NGOs.

The second person who sold the master is Gentian Sula of NOA, who, in fact, was initially reported to be the man who had guaranteed 115 thousand euros, but as reported by the media, including CNA, he has changed his testimony and stated that everything was prepared by Ajola Xoxa.

The third is the wife of Veliaj's friend, Elman Abule, Marisa Nito Abule. The latter has provided important testimony regarding the apartment seized by the GJKKO on May 22 of this year.

Marisa Nito Abule stated in her testimony that Ajola told her that there was limited space in the house and that he wanted the third floor, precisely in the apartment that SPAK had seized, where it was claimed that the two floors belonged solely to Erion Veliaj, while the third floor had previously been used by actor Gaz Paja, then by other people and was not occupied by Erion Veliaj.

SPAK found furniture during the inspections, ordered by Ajola Xoxa, on the third floor, and there is also now the testimony of Marisa Abules, who emphasizes to SPAK that it was Ajola herself who told her that the space was narrow and requested more expansion, precisely in the same seized object.

Another interesting testimony was that of guard Fatjon Baci. In his testimony, Baci states that Veliaj had used his phone to communicate with his brother and wife, admitting that he had given him the phone out of fear of the authorities.

According to the acts, there may be other people who have given their testimonies and have aggravated the criminal situation of Erion Veliaj and Ajola Xoxa.

SPAK has now closed the investigations by sending to court the voluminous file with hundreds of pages of accusations against Veliaj and Xoxa, with facts and evidence that seriously implicate the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, who risks 7-15 years in prison./ CNA
