Albania, on fire/ How the situation has been in the last 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, 29 fires have been identified, of which 13 are still active and 6 are under monitoring.

The outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of: Dibër, Mat, Bulqizë, Vlorë, Delvinë, Selenica, Elbasan, Peqin, Dimal, Poliçan, Skrapar, Gjirokastër, Korçë, Devoll, Maliq, Pogradec, Tirana, Fier and Kukës.

Currently, these fires remain active, where the work of operational forces is focused:

Vlora Region

In the place called "Maja e Paliskas", above the village of Dukat. There is a small presence of smoke in the burned perimeter, as logs are burning inside it and this hearth is being monitored. Today, work continues to completely extinguish the fire by 7 employees of the Vlora MZSH and 4 forestry forces.

On the heights of the mountain above the village of Kalasë, Vergo administrative unit, Delvinë municipality, work continued on the fire that broke out in the pastures. Yesterday, the operation continued with all structures, assisted by 60 personnel and 4 firefighting vehicles of the Armed Forces and also assisted by helicopters of the Armed Forces and Hungarians. During the operation, the Chief of the Delvinë Police Station, Agim Troci, was burned, and 5 people suffered from asphyxiation. The fire continues to be active and 10 houses have been burned. Today, work continues to extinguish the fire by operational forces.

Above the village of Ploç, administrative unit Sevaster, municipality of Selenica, the fire continues to burn in a bushy area and is located in a long line spread across the hills near the villages of Velc - Ramic - Verbas - Matogjin of the administrative unit Brataj. There is a presence of operational forces, but due to the terrain they cannot intervene. Air intervention is required.

Gjirokaster District

The fire that broke out in the village of Fushëbardhë and near the Skërfica tunnel, Cepo administrative unit, which came from the territory of the Delvinë municipality, due to its high altitude, the operational forces were unable to intervene yesterday and kept the situation under monitoring. Today, the work of extinguishing the fire by the operational forces continues, as the fire has approached the Skërfica tunnel.

Dibër District

In the place called "Lake of Flowers", part of the Lura National Park. The fire has spread over 350 hectares of land. Today, work continues to extinguish the fire by operational forces.

In the village of Zall Gjoçaj, Derjan administrative unit, Mat municipality, work has continued to extinguish the fire. 16 local forces and 30 personnel from the Armed Forces operated on the ground, supported by 2 Hungarian H225M helicopters. Today, the fire is developing in a perimeter with an extension of over 13 km, with developments in three directions. In one direction it is developing from Masdeja, where it includes considerable areas in the forests. In one direction in the place called Qafa e Tolle, where a house is at risk, as well as in the place called Fushë Kuqe, where three houses are at risk. Today, work continues to extinguish the fire by the operational forces.

In the village of Ulëz, the fire is under monitoring and is on the way to complete containment. Today, over 15 operational forces are engaged, working to prevent the development of fires burning inside the fire.

The fire in Livadhet e Peladhisë, which has spread over the village of Krajkë in the Bulqizë municipality, continues to be active, but with few developments. The fire has spread over 40 hectares of land. Yesterday, 16 forces from the Bulqizë municipality were engaged in the operation and the fire is being monitored to prevent further spread. Today, this fire is being brought under control by 10 forces from the municipality.

Elbasan District

In the Shmil area in the village of Lugaxhi, the administrative unit of Labinot-Mal, the municipality of Elbasan, work has continued to extinguish the fire that broke out. About 50 forces were deployed on the ground, of which 20 are military forces of the Albanian Armed Forces and 30 are from the Elbasan Regional Directorate of Forestry, municipal forces and forestry forces. Today, work continues to extinguish the fire by operational forces.

Lezha District

In the Shkopet area. The most active part of the fire has spread to the border area between the Kurbin-Mirditë-Mat municipalities, above the heights of the Lurth village. Yesterday, 39 local forces from the Kurbin and Mirditë municipalities and 50 military forces were engaged, assisted by 2 Hungarian H225M helicopters. There is no danger to homes. Today, the work of extinguishing the fire by operational forces continues.

Korca District

In the village of Dishnicë. The fire remains active, but with low intensity. Today, work continues to extinguish the fire by operational forces.

The fire in the area called Qeramica between the villages of Trestenik and Vishocicë in the Devoll municipality, risks spreading due to the wind, as the area where the fire is located is covered with grass and bushes. Operational forces are at the scene, working to neutralize it.

The outbreak in the village of Strelce, Maliq municipality continues to move north. The other outbreaks have been neutralized and are being monitored to prevent reactivation.

Work is underway to extinguish the fire in the village of Krichkovë, Proptiste administrative unit, Pogradec municipality.

Berat District

In the village of Muzhaka. The terrain is mountainous, with oak forests and dense vegetation, making it difficult for firefighters to intervene, but the situation is under control.

In the village of Konisbaltë, Dimal municipality. The fire is on the border of the two municipalities of Dimal and Berat (in the villages of Mbreshtan and Galinë). During the night the fire has advanced towards the villages of Mbjeshovë and Bistrovicë. Yesterday, 1 Hungarian H225M helicopter also intervened. Today, the work of extinguishing the fire by operational forces continues.

In the village of Zgërbon, the municipality of Poliçan is continuing work to extinguish the flames by operational forces.

Kukes District

In a place called Gryka e Motinas, above the village of Dragobi, within the National Park of the Albanian Alps. Due to the difficult terrain and remoteness, AdZM employees have not been able to isolate the source of the fire. Today, 7 employees of AdZM Kukës have been engaged to extinguish the fire.

In Mali me Gropa, precisely in the place called Fusha e Stanëve, Tirana municipality, a fire has broken out in a soft grassy terrain. The reported burned area is more than 10 ha. Today, this fire continues to be active and is being worked on by 30 MZSH operational forces and 11 AdZM forces.

In total, the fires have burned over 450 hectares of vegetation, olive roots, and trees.

45 firefighting vehicles and 485 operational forces were deployed in the firefighting operations. Also, 140 personnel, 5 firefighting vehicles and 2 helicopters from the Armed Forces and 2 Hungarian helicopters participated in yesterday's operations.

According to the forecasts of the Institute of Geosciences (IGJEO), no rain is expected today.

Regarding fires, a "HIGH" risk level is expected today in all regions. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius in low-lying areas.
