The Democratic Party's request for the People's Advocate/ The

The Constitutional Court decided today to transfer for consideration in a plenary session the opposition's request, on the verification of the procedure for electing the People's Advocate and the constitutionality of the decision taken by the Albanian Parliament.

"The Constitutional Court Panel decided to transfer the case for consideration in a plenary session based on the documents: Verification of the issue related to the eligibility and incompatibilities in the exercise of the functions of the Ombudsman, including the verification of the procedure for the election of citizen Endri Shabani to this position, as well as the finding as incompatible with the Constitution of Albania. 2. Abrogation of decision no. 111, dated 11.12.2025 "On the election of the Ombudsman", of the Assembly of Albania, as incompatible with the Constitution of Albania. 3. Suspension of decision no. 111, dated 11.12.2025 "On the election of the Ombudsman", of the Assembly of Albania, until a final decision is issued by the Constitutional Court", the decision states.

Endri Shabani was elected to the position of Ombudsman on December 11, 2025, with 85 votes in favor and 3 against./ CNA
