The General Director of the AMP, Eduart Merkaj, spoke at the Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense, regarding the assassination attempt that occurred in Rinas and the recruitment of Muçi Shaljani into the ranks of the AMP.

Merkaj announced that a report has been filed with the Tirana Prosecutor's Office against the entire chain of AMP employees who were responsible for dealing with the recruitment or even the appointment of the former agency employee.

Meanwhile, he also announced that for the murder in Rinas there was a case of exclusion from the Directorate of the Special Operational Force and other administrative remarks.

"Regarding the question, why was the response lukewarm? It was a sensitive and very serious situation. I want to inform you that AMP has made several public statements, not just one where the measures taken by the institution that I lead for all employees within the institution were presented very clearly. A second statement has also been made, where AMP has filed a report with the Prosecutor's Office for the entire chain of employees who dealt with the recruitment process for those elements that we have seen that the law was violated. I have taken measures by suspending the chain of command of the Operational, which not long ago were taken disciplinary investigation measures, where it was found that an exclusion from AMP and other administrative remarks were made", said Merkaj.

We recall that Muçi Shaljani passed away two days ago at the Trauma Hospital, after being injured in the November 11th attack, where he received 10 bullets, 2 of which in the head. Shaljani was in a vehicle with Gilmando Dani, who was executed at the Rinas roundabout. /CNA
