World Premature Birth Day/ Awareness-raising activity at the Parliament of

November 17 marks World Prematurity Day. This day aims to raise awareness about premature births, including: prematurity-related fatalities, as well as ways to prevent them.

On this occasion, this Monday, an awareness-raising activity was held in the Albanian Parliament to share messages, while parents who have experienced such an experience with the birth of their children were present.

The Ministry of Health has also shared a special message. Through a posted video, the ministry has brought attention to premature babies and their first stages towards life.

"Through this special video of the Obstetric and Gynecological University Hospital "Queen Geraldine", we bring to attention premature babies and their journey towards life. We support parents, who face strong emotions and constant challenges. We thank our medical team for their professional, humane and unstoppable care. We call for awareness, education and continuous support for every premature baby", - it is written on the official website of the Ministry of Health.

A mother who has experienced such a situation says that it was initially very difficult as she faced many challenges, especially as she remembers when her baby's life was in danger. On the other hand, doctors talk about timely prevention.

According to the widely used definition by the WHO, any baby born before the end of the 37th week of pregnancy is considered premature./CNA
