Journalist Mentor Kikia spoke this evening about the protest that has been taking place for three days regarding the events in Zvërnec.

Invited to "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, Kikia said that people should accept that this is a political protest, starting from the demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. But on the other hand, he emphasized that it is not partisan.

Among other things, the journalist said that the protest risks splitting when a group of representatives is formed for dialogue. This is because, according to him, everyone will want to be the leader.

"This is a deeply political protest, but it is not partisan. The participation and the way it was organized is a youthful adrenaline. There were minors in addition to the young people. Very few of them may be environmentally sensitive. Edi Rama felt this spirit of this protest.

The opposition was not worried at all. They could not get the police or the tear gas. This is not a door-to-door protest. Rama invited them to come and talk.

Now the hardest part is what this protest will produce. What can this protest produce is the main question? What makes the protest beautiful is that there are no organizers. This protest will need to have an agenda very soon, where a list of some demands will be written and sent to the prime minister.  

"The moment a group of representatives needs to be formed, there is a risk that this protest will split. As soon as the split begins, conspiracy theories will start, as happened with the student protest," Kikia said. /CNA
