Document/Meta request SPAK: To be summoned as a person aware of "January

The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has submitted a request to SPAK asking to be summoned as a person in the know about the "January 21" issue.

In his request, Meta argues that he has to provide evidence that is not known to the prosecuting body and that could serve to shed light on the incident.

 

"Honorable Mr. Prosecutor!
The Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime has registered the criminal proceedings and is conducting investigations regarding the event of January 21, 2011.
I, Ilir Rexhep Metaj, being aware of and able to provide valid evidence regarding the circumstances of that event, evidence that is not known by the proceeding body, which may serve to shed light on the event. I am at the disposal of the proceeding body at any moment that it will be ready! ", the request states.

In the protest of January 21, 2011, 4 protesters were killed. The demonstration was held in front of the Prime Minister's Office by the opposition at the time, which was then led by the current Prime Minister Edi Rama. This protest began after the publication of the Meta-Prifti videotaping for the concession of a hydroelectric power plant in court proceedings from which 7% of the amount or 700 thousand euros would be benefited./ CNA
