80% of Albanians have neither bought nor read a book in the last year

Asked by the Barometer in Euronews Albania how many books they read during 2022, 74.8% of them answered, none.

Meanwhile, only 7.6% have read one book, 11.8% of them have read 2-3 books, 2.7% have read 4-5 books and 2.3% more than 5 books.

This figure increases when it comes to buying books, as 78.2% of Albanians have not bought any books throughout the year 2022. Meanwhile, 7.2% of Albanians have bought only 1 book, 10% of them have bought 2-3 books, 1.9% have bought 4-5 books and 1.9% of them have bought more than 5 books.

Most Albanians not only don't buy books, they don't even donate. 74.8% of the respondents did not donate a book, while only 25.2% answered positively. 74.1% of Albanians did not receive a gift book and only 25.5% did.

The findings are from the Euronews Albania Barometer, carried out during the period October 28-November 7, 2022, conducted by MRB and Data Centrum, at the national level with 1000 face-to-face interviews./ Euronews
