The three poles of the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party already has 3 poles within it, which are trying to take the lead, or to keep the direction, as is the case of Lulzim Basha. The first is the Re-establishment Group. It is the absolute majority of the DP, and this was proven by the March 6 elections. It is the group that follows the line of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha. These are included deputies who have strongly opposed the decision of September 9, 2021, to expel him. Until that moment, a large part of them were supporters of Lulzim Basha. They didn?t say a single word even though Basha lost the parliamentary elections of April 25, 2021.

Lulzim Basha is a product of Sali Berisha. Therefore, the Re-establishment Group, which supports today Berisha, has been the main supporters of Basha. These include Edmond Spaho, Edi Paloka, Flamur Noka etc.

The second pole includes Basha?s people, who distanced themselves from him after the heavy defeat on March 6. So the group that is resigning today, including Agron Gjekmarkaj, Ervin Salianji, Grida Duma and many other figures, are individuals who on January 8 of this year were inside the headquarters of the Democratic Party, as they attacked with a criminal language the democrats who were that day in protest in the yard.

Moreover, Ervin Salianji and Ferdinand Xhaferraj are the ones who called the State Police to intervene and using violence against democrats. They were inside the DP headquarters, exercising violence against democrats. Ervin Salianji was photographed on January 8 with a shovel tail in his hand, and from the second floor hit the democrats that were trying to enter the headquarters.

This group, whose main protagonist is Grida Duma, consists of ardent supporters of Lulzim Basha since 2013 until today. Some of them entered the DP with ?torn panties?, and became millionaires. And this because of the support for Basha, but without any contribution or political support.

They are the ones who are now trying to come out against him, to create a faction within the DP. A faction that probably wants to be the majority, with the motto ?Let Lulzim Basha leave!?. But most of them claim that Sali Berisha should also leave the DP. Although Berisha has his group and has no reason to resign, as he has no official position in the DP. He is only seeking to run for the new party leader.

In the third pole is the group of close associates of Luli Basha. These are his few supporters who have remained loyal such as Jorida Tabaku, Enkelejd Alibeaj, Kreshnik Çollaku, Gazmend Bardhi and some others, who seem to have already lost any kind of political support.

None of them think that the local elections of 2023 are approaching, and Basha?s party will not even be able to find candidates for mayor, and maybe even commissioners and observers in the polling stations as happened in the March 6 elections.

Finally, there is the fourth pole, which is the group of the silent. But these are neither organized nor united. They are more independent like the deputy Tomorr Alizoti, and other deputies who have been silent. They claim that they are out of personal battles, but they are defending the DP logo. What can be said for sure is that the DP is already divided into 3 poles.

And out of about 59 deputies, most of them are on the side of the Re-establishment Group and on the second pole, that of those who left Basha after the March 6 elections. Basha himself is a minority within the party. It seems that the DP is going through a very difficult situation.

A conflict situation, where a solution is unlikely to be found. Formulas for mergers, National Assemblies, Committees and others are proposals that are not finding consensus. The parties are divided in positions. Berisha and his supporters seem determined to go to the March 22 Assembly.

His only move is to ?extend his hand?, and the call he has made to the deputies to join his group, which is the absolute majority of the DP. On the other hand, there are suspicions that is taking place a game with many gates, and that the second group of those who resigned from the leadership of the Democratic Party after March 6, could be just a scenario of Lulzim Basha, that aims to not allow the unification of the Democratic Party, or climbing to the top of Berisha./CNA.al
