Ten Hag closes with Manchester United, two alternatives for the bench

The current season will be the last for coach Erik Ten Hag, in the direction of Manchester United. The cycle of the Dutch coach in the English club seems to be over and he will leave in the summer.

The team's results have not been well received by the club leaders, who have decided to fire the coach. Ten Hag could only be saved by qualifying for the Champions League for the next season, but this seems very difficult, due to the positions in the table.

After 31 weeks of the championship, United holds sixth place in the standings with only 49 points, a full 11 points less than Aston Villa and Tottenham, who are in the "Champions" zone.

The negative results, but also the not at all positive atmosphere in the dressing rooms, seem to have filled the leaders' cup. Ten Hag's departure seems inevitable and work has begun to find a new coach.

The 54-year-old has had a free hand in the market, but many of his approaches have failed. Ten Hag, sat on the bench at United in 2022, while the adventure looks set to end after two seasons. He has a contract until 2025, while the club must pay him 11 million euros, for terminating the contract.

There are no shortage of alternatives for the "devils" bench, with two coaches appearing at the top of the list. It is about the former Chelsea coach, Graham Potter, and the current England coach, Gareth Southgate.

The latter has a contract with the English Federation, which ends in December, and in order to prematurely disconnect the cooperation after the European Championship, an amount of 800 thousand euros must be paid.

Also, according to the latest reports, there was a meeting between the leaders of United and coach Potter, but it is not known whether or not an agreement was reached between the parties.
