Missed a clear chance in the World Cup, the striker receives death threats

Jaminton Campaz has faced serious threats following Colombia's elimination from the World Cup.

The Colombian striker missed a clear-cut chance in the 115th minute of the match against Switzerland, a moment that could have secured his team's qualification. After the match, media reported that the player had received death threats.

The situation has brought back memories of the tragic event of 1994, when Andres Escobar was killed a few days after scoring an own goal in Colombia's 2-1 loss to the USA. In his public reaction, Campaz said he had fulfilled his childhood dream of representing Colombia and playing in the World Cup.

He thanked the fans, family and all supporters of the national team for their support during the tournament. The footballer stressed that football also brings difficult moments and called on everyone not to allow disappointment to turn into hatred or fear.
