OFFICIAL/ The famous striker announces his retirement from the national team

Sadio Mane has announced his retirement from the Senegal national team following the team's elimination from the World Cup.

The decision was made public after the loss to Belgium in extra time in the round of 16. The 34-year-old striker ended a 14-year career with the Senegalese jersey.

Mane made his international debut in 2012 and went on to play 130 matches, scoring 54 goals, an all-time record for the African national team. In his message, he thanked the fans for their continued support throughout his career.

The former Liverpool and Bayern Munich player emphasized that he has given everything for the national team and the flag of his country.

Mane added that he wants to continue contributing to Senegalese football in other roles in the future. He leaves as captain of the generation that won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
