Unexpectedly in Portugal, the coach makes the decision to leave

Portugal national team coach Roberto Martinez is expected to end his tenure at the helm of the Lusitanian team immediately after the conclusion of the World Cup.

According to a report published by British media outlet "talkSPORT", the Spanish coach has made the decision not to renew his current contract, which expires in July, choosing to leave regardless of the result the team achieves in this tournament.

Martinez took charge of Portugal in 2023 and during this period managed to lead the team to triumph in the Nations League in 2025.

This World Cup represents his last opportunity to close a successful cycle with the Portuguese national team, where the main goal remains winning the big trophy before his official departure.
