Deschamps: I will miss the national team, but I will not cry

France national team coach Didier Deschamps has officially announced his departure after 14 years in charge.

The decision was made public on the eve of the third-place match at the World Cup, where his team will face England. In a statement, the French coach said that managing the national team has been an extraordinary experience that has marked a large part of his life.

"The national team is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It has taken me 25 years of my life and it leaves its mark. I have unforgettable memories, but the important thing is always what awaits us. I know that the curtain will come down. No one will cry here, but I will miss the French national team. I have had the privilege, for 14 years, to experience magical moments, but also difficult ones. But life goes on, I am a positive person and I know that things will go well from now on.

"We don't have any more desire to play than the English, but when you are part of the French national team, you have duties. We will do everything we can to make everything go as well as possible. We have a responsibility to millions of French people ," Deschamps declared.

Meanwhile, his successor will be Zinedine Zidane, for whom only the signature and officialization at the head of the bench are awaited.
