De Jong stops again, there is no peace for the midfielder

Barcelona have confirmed that Frenkie de Jong has suffered a torn ligament in his right knee.

The Dutch midfielder will not undergo surgery, but will follow a rehabilitation program under the supervision of the club's medical staff.

The knee problems emerged during his appearances for the Netherlands at the World Cup, where he played with a knee brace in the final matches. The injury represents a significant absence for coach Hansi Flick at the start of the new season.

However, Barcelona have no intention of bringing in a replacement in the transfer window. The club believe that the midfield can be covered by Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Marc Bernal, as well as Eric Garcia and Andreas Christensen if necessary.

This is another injury for the 29-year-old, who has endured ongoing physical problems over the past two seasons.
