Maldini reveals behind the scenes, Ancelotti rejected Italy

Carlo Ancelotti has refused to take over as Italy coach and will continue his work on the Brazil bench.

Paolo Maldini confirmed that he and Leonardo held talks with Ancelotti before contacting Pep Guardiola. However, the Italian coach decided to stay with Brazil and continue the project he started with the Selecao.

"We cannot deny that we also spoke to Carlo Ancelotti before speaking to Guardiola. We thought it was right to start with those we considered the best in the world. So we had to have a general idea of ??their availability ," Maldini said.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti aims to lead Brazil in the 2028 Copa America and the 2030 World Cup. Earlier, Pep Guardiola also rejected the offer from the Italian Football Federation.

Following these negative responses, the FIGC is considering alternatives for the Italy bench. Andrea Pirlo continues to be considered the leading candidate to take charge of the Azzurri.
