World Cup with 64 teams, tournament details. Load for players and busy schedule

The idea of ??expanding the 2030 World Cup to 64 teams is gaining more and more attention following statements by CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez.

The project envisages the participation of 64 representatives from 211 FIFA member federations. According to the proposal, the tournament would be held with 16 groups of 4 teams, where the top two teams would qualify for the knockout stage.

The number of matches would increase from 104 to 128, while the finalists would continue to play 8 matches. Organizing such an event would require more stadiums, training centers and additional investment.

The criticisms are related to the heavy workload for the players, the busy schedule and the lowered technical level of the tournament.

Meanwhile, objections have also come from UEFA and CONCACAF, while FIFA has not yet made a final decision.
