The chairman of the Union Party for Human Rights, Vangjel Dule, has again requested the release of Fredi Beleri, the elected mayor of Himara.

Dule said in a television interview that he sees Beler's detention as kidnapping and hostage-taking, not detention by the police.

This, as he claims that the prosecution has no evidence and no facts proving that Fredi Beleri committed corruption in the May 14 elections.

The head of PBDNJ, repeated the accusations that the whole process is directed by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"Mr. Beleri is the democratically elected mayor of Himara Municipality. Every second that goes on for me is not forbidden, it is hijacked and held hostage. For every second that this situation continues, the image of democracy, of the rule of law, of the standards that are required to be respected for human and minority rights, is burdened.

There is no fact, there is no evidence in favor of the accusation. It is a directed, politically motivated process and for this reason alone, Mr. Beleri continues to be a political prisoner of God Rama.

If we look in perspective, a week before the elections, at a time when the climate was extremely calm, normal, functional, in terms of the submission of candidates' alternatives in the Municipality of Himara, there was the visit of Lord Rama to that municipality who threw the fire visit with an inconceivable aggressiveness towards a candidate and the already elected head of the municipality, Mr. Beleri. Mr. Rama prepared the ground for a week in a row wherever he happened to be, in Tirana, Fier, Kamëz, where Fredi Beleri was the main speaker everywhere," said Vangjel Dule./ CNA
