The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has held a press statement after his reconfirmation as party leader for another 4 years.

Berisha described today's electoral process as one of the most important and extraordinary since 1991.

Among other things, he stated that it was a free process, while adding that just as the Democrats voted today, Albanians will vote in the next elections. He emphasized that the DP is today a modernized democratic party in all its activities.

"Tonight I must tell tens of thousands of Democrats that for me in all the votes from September 1991 to today, this is the most important and extraordinary vote. With this vote of confidence you decided to walk undefeated towards our major goals. To walk undefeated in fulfilling the great mission. About 40 thousand women and men, boys and girls who stand up strongly after powerful battles. This is great news for all of you who participated in the vote, in the determination of the DP to overthrow the second dictatorship in Albania. With your vote you have deprived the criminal organization and its leader of sleep. You have deprived the drug cartels and the terrible mafia of free speech that did everything to muddy this process. The most powerful that the DP has known in its entire existence. They did everything to deceive and discourage you. They did everything in accordance with the orders of "The head of the narco-state. Sali Berisha was reconfirmed as leader of the Democratic Party with 37,341 votes in favor out of 38,902 valid votes in total. Meanwhile, 1,055 voted against his reconfirmation as leader of the DP, while 506 abstained and 539 votes were declared invalid. /CNA
