The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, reacted to the news circulated in the media that the Vlora TPP was irreversibly damaged by a powerful storm in 2012.

Balluku denied such news as he said that there has never been a tsunami on the shores of Vlora to destroy the TPP.

She described this article as a report to cover up writing errors, as she accused the Berisha government of building the cooling system incorrectly.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Vlora TPP has not worked for a single day and the Albanian state has been obliged to pay a loan taken by the Berisha government's mistake.

"The government plans to put the Vlora thermal power plant into operation, it is something we have made public for two years. I have also worked intensively with our collaborators, which is "Accelerate Power", an American company. We have discussed this issue several times, but you must understand that the Vlora TPP was built... that I also read an article yesterday that, to be honest, if investigative articles are made that try to justify the mistakes of the past, they will not be called more investigative.

Keep in mind that yesterday's article said that a terrible storm in 2012, which we know is the scale of storms in the Republic of Albania, has managed to destroy the Vlora Thermal Power Plant once and for all without even starting it. This is not true and it is 4-fold proven that the Vlora TEC was built incorrectly.

In 2010, the design of the cooling system was designed and built wrongly, so when a TPP is built and the shores of Vlora are no longer known for the tsunami that destroyed the TPP and it was never turned on, meanwhile that had not been lit for a single day until the day of the tsunami, that I do not understand how it came to the surface that we had not heard of it until today.

The Vlora TEC has not worked for a single day and the Albanian state has been obliged to pay a loan taken and an official answer has never been given as to why that TEC was designed incorrectly. We learn from the mistakes of past governments, we learn from the endless problems we have found in the energy sector. There is no need for me to remind you every time we talk about 45% loss of production of a precious product such as energy. So in order not to repeat the mistakes, we have been working with "Accelerate Power" and the consortium for 2 years, which will take over the restart of the Vlora Thermal Power Plant, but not in the capacity it has today.

The capacities designed and never put into operation in 2012 were 110 mega, while the TEC of Vlora is being designed for 3 modules, 100 mega the first, 150 the second and 100 the third, so 350 mega in total.
