The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has tabled the idea of ??the candidacy of Fredi Beleri on the New Democracy list for MEP.

The Greek media reports that Kyriakos Mitsotakis can put the elected mayor of Himara Municipality, Fredi Beleri, on the list for MEP in the New Democracy party.

"Besides the symbolic character of the movement, such an action would reinforce the patriotic character of the European "blue" vote", writes the Greek media. 

Meanwhile, Fredi Beleri is facing Albanian justice after being accused by SPAK of buying votes in the elections of May 14, 2023. 

For Beleri, the Special Prosecutor's Office requested a sentence of 2 years and 6 months in prison.

As for the other defendant, Fredi Kokaveshi, an associate of Beler, SPAK requested two years of imprisonment, which were converted into 4 years of probation.

Official Athens has often reacted to the investigations against Beler and has threatened to veto the integration of Albania into the EU. /CNA
