Bad weather situation/Vengu: 70 families evacuated, 7 most problematic districts

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu shared an update on the situation in the country caused by bad weather this Saturday evening.

In a media statement, Vengu stated that so far, the most affected areas are the regions of Lezhë, Dibër, Fier, Berat, Korçë, Gjirokastër and Vlorë.

According to Vengu, there are reports of damage to homes due to rainwater, with 52 families evacuated in Vlora and 18 families in Korça.

"To date, the most affected areas are the regions of Lezha, Dibra, Fier, Berat, Korça, Gjirokastra and Vlora. Our strategy was based on warning, prevention and support for the residents of the most affected municipalities. On the other hand, the management of the Drini cascade, despite the large lateral flows, avoided what could have potentially turned into a disaster in the Shkodra area. Initially in the municipalities of Lezha and Kurbin and further in Vlora and Korça with 52 families evacuated in Vlora and 18 families evacuated in the Korça Region. As for housing, according to reports, we undoubtedly have homes that have been flooded to varying degrees, mainly in the Korça Region with 300 homes, in Fier 25 homes, in Lezha 600 homes and in Vlora 52 of them", said Vengu. /CNA
