"It's challenging to be the wife of a prime minister"/ Linda

Prime Minister Edi Rama's wife, Linda Rama, gave an interview today during the International Future Investment Initiative Forum that was held this Saturday in Tirana. During the interview, Linda Rama focused on her life in these 12 years, the time when her husband has held office.

At the beginning, Rama said that professionally he has decided to dedicate himself to public policies and development issues.

"Being by Edit's side for these 12 years has been an excellent opportunity to contribute on my part, at a historic and very important moment for my country, Albania. In fact, in terms of profile, my entire life has been spent in public policies and development issues and I have been as a result very sensitive to vulnerable groups and I have been an advocate for women's rights and human rights," said Rama.

He further stated that after taking office, he chose to add another dimension besides his professional profile.

"At a certain point in time, I ended up being someone who was an activist for human rights and public policies under the same roof as the person who was entrusted with the direction of public policies and changing people's lives, and it was a challenge for both of us. I realized then from the beginning that once you become the wife of someone who is elected, the risk is that immediately after that people will see you only as the wife of the prime minister. At first, I thought I would simply add another dimension to my professional profile, but I later realized that I had to maintain my professional and personal identity," Rama said.

Rama said that her role is challenging because she must overcome skepticism, adding that she drives her own car, does not have a nanny for the child, and cooks her own meals.

"It was very challenging. First, it was very difficult to overcome people's skepticism. I told everyone that I would continue to be the same person as before and work in the same field as before, but it was very difficult for them to believe it. In fact, I drove myself, I don't have a nanny for my child, I cook myself and in fact it was very difficult for people, they couldn't connect this kind of narrative with the spouse of someone so important," Rama said./CNA
