The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has explained the reasons why the DP deputies voted today in Parliament in favor of the agreement for Albania's membership in the Peace Board.

Invited to the show "Opinion", Berisha said that the agreement was voted on not article by article but in principle. Among other things, he emphasized that when it comes to security issues, the opposition's vote will be the same as that of the United States of America.

"Throughout the time in power, the firm message of Albania's representatives in all international institutions was to vote on security issues as the US votes. Another major reason is that we owe them the independence of Kosovo. In addition to this, for certain reasons, we still have problems with Belgrade that does not give up Greater Serbia. In these circumstances, I have been and am voting on security issues as the US votes.

The board is based on United Nations documents. Even if it were not the UN, I would vote for it. We did not vote on the document article by article, we voted on principle. We told Edi Rama that he is blackmailing and embarrassing the country. We made it clear to the world what Edi Rama represents. Only he and Lukashenko personalized the invitation. Trump stopped the war in Gaza. The other administration had words, visits and nothing. This one managed to stop that war and made an extraordinary contribution to peace.
