Selami Jenisheri: Coalition with the DP could bring 3 MPs and 25 thousand votes
Selami Jenisheri, leader of the Popular Unity Party of Albanian Pensioners, invited to a television show, has provided details on negotiations with the Democratic Party and the coalition in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.

He emphasized that, although his party is considered small, it represents around 730 thousand pensioners and is registered to participate in the elections.

Jenisheri said that they initially met with 7 other parties, but decided to join the DP to form a coalition.

He has requested that his party be included in the closed lists of the DP for the Tirana region, seeking one MP. According to him, this could bring about 25 thousand votes for the DP, which could guarantee at least 3 new MPs.

He also emphasized that his party has a great influence in Tirana, where about 250,000 pensioners live.

"This party is called small, but it is not. Our party has a contingent of 730 thousand pensioners. We are registered in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025, it was considered reasonable to join the DP coalition. Initially, they called us, before signing we had a meeting with 7 parties.

We are interested in being in a coalition. Initially, I personally wanted to be in negotiations with Dashamir Shehi, then we stayed with the one from the DP. We are looking for a deputy on the closed lists in the Tirana district from the DP side.

If this request is met, we offer the DP an economy two or three times, justice like in the USA. There are about 250 thousand pensioners in Tirana, 5 offices are where pensioners receive their pensions. I can go to the offices, put a big letter and tell them how I will get the pension of 200 thousand lek.

We give 25 thousand votes to the DP, at least 3 deputies. We are party leaders to move the lives of Albanians forward, and this is done by people with integrity. We will not lead pensioners to the parliament, but young people. I believe in the DP and Sali Berisha, I want to leave our space to him, I want to give it to this coalition", said Jenisheri. /CNA
