Economy expert Dorjan Teliti, in a statement to the media, announced that the government has decided to increase reference prices for real estate throughout the country, without conducting any public consultation with citizens and interest groups.
According to Telit, reference prices are increasing significantly, and in some areas, they have even tripled, reaching up to 2 thousand euros per m2.
He emphasizes that it is a pure political act that aims to increase budget revenues through a covert form of tax increases.
Thus, Teliti declares that the DP demands the immediate cancellation of this initiative, without changing the reference prices of housing.
"The government has decided to increase reference prices for real estate throughout the country, without conducting any public consultation with citizens and interest groups."
Reference prices are increasing significantly, and in some areas, such as Durrës, these reference prices have tripled, reaching up to 2 thousand euros per m2.
Be clear, this sudden decision is not simply a change of a technical financial nature. It is a pure political act that aims to increase budget revenues through a covert form of tax increase.
With this decision, the government directly hits citizens. The property tax on residential properties is immediately increased.
Buying an apartment is becoming more expensive as a result of the increase in the infrastructure impact tax, directly affecting the increase in living costs.
Instead of supporting families who are honestly trying to build a future in their country, the government is making their lives difficult. And it is doing this at a time when the country is suffering from mass emigration, rising food prices, and high economic uncertainty.
This is not a random decision. It is part of a flawed governance model, where ordinary citizens feel the absence of the state and the grave presence of injustices every day. The increase in reference prices is a new, hidden tax on every Albanian family that wants to buy, inherit or donate a property.
The opposition is completely against it and cannot remain silent in the face of this injustice.
We believe that politics should be at the service of the people, not to their detriment.
Our position is clear and unchanged: to protect the interests of citizens and market actors and to stop any government effort to deepen the social and economic gap.
Based on what we mentioned above, the Democratic Party demands:
1. Immediate cancellation of this initiative, without changing the reference prices of housing.
2. Implementing a deep and fair fiscal reform, through a transparent public consultation process with citizens, interest groups and professionals in the field, with the aim of reducing the fiscal burden on Albanian families and businesses.
Dear citizens!
"We are here to say NO to any government policy that makes housing a luxury and that turns the state into a tool of extortion. Housing is a right of every Albanian," Teliti declared./ CNA
