"Veliaj has left politics"/ Këlliçi: He will be remembered

The elected DP MP for Tirana, Belind Këlliçi, declared today that the arrested mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is an individual who has already left politics.

In a television show, Këlliçi said that Veliaj's political fate is in the hands of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Këlliçi said that Veliaj will be remembered as the most corrupt mayor in the history of Albania, of all municipalities.

"The 'mayor' of Albania, Edi Rama, has not yet decided the political fate of Erion Veliaj."

Today as we speak, Tirana continues to be de facto but not yet de jure without a mayor for more than 6 months.

In fact, it's not like he lost anything major because at the end of the day, the biggest thief of public funds in the capital no longer has the opportunity to do damage from the mayor's office.

But on the other hand, this city today is dirtier than ever.

It is more mismanaged than ever and certainly struggles to have a normal direction.

Edi Rama has not yet decided what will happen with the fate of Erion Veliaj because it is still commonly said in political circles that there is no agreement between him and Veliaj about Veliaj's legal fate.

Because the political fate is already known, Erion Veliaj has left politics.

And he will probably be remembered as the most corrupt mayor in the history of Albania, of all municipalities.

Regarding Veliaj's legal fate, we all agree that he will go to prison.

I meant that the years are being negotiated, how many years in prison he will serve.

This depends, based on his testimony, on whether he will also become a penitent like that financier Kondakçiu, who is to be congratulated for having a female collaborator at SPAK.

"His political history has been closed since the day he was put in handcuffs," said Këlliçi. /CNA
