Propaganda with salary increase/ Tabaku: Albanians pay the bill
Deputy Jorida Tabaku

Today, after the meeting of the government, the ministers announced that they have approved the salary increase for some categories such as health, police, firefighters, doctors and prison nurses and others.

Deputy Jorida Tabaku has reacted on social networks by writing that the bill for the salary increase will be paid by Albanians.

According to Tabak, Albania ranks last in the region for minimum and average wages, per capita income and many other indicators. On the other hand, core inflation is the highest in the region and it is likely that this will continue.

The deputy adds that there has been an increase in taxes in the private sector, where professionals will pay up to 23 percent today, the increase in the minimum wage will increase the payment of social and health insurance.

" Who will pay the bill? Of course the Albanians!

Today, the government announced that it will increase salaries for the public sector. A very delayed initiative considering that the competitiveness of the public sector has been low in relation to salaries, even under this government for the first time in years we have had a drop in the real salary. Evidence of how all the reforms undertaken from 2013 onwards have resulted in a soap bubble, as today in difficult times we should show resistance while showing weakness and failure.

So, the salary increase could have (and should have) been carried out long ago, but the reforms of this government were not aimed at strengthening the administration, but at shrinking it and weakening it.

Today, however, the Minister of Finance stated that the increase in wages will come from the increase in income. Which income item? The income structure in our country has the biggest fiscal burden in the collection of VAT, which has started to decline as a result of the decrease in consumption. The latter, through a chain reaction, has started to fall as a result of the increase in prices of socialist inflation.

Albania ranks last in the region for the minimum and average salary, for income per capita and for many other indicators. On the other hand, core inflation is the highest in the region and it is likely that this will continue. While there has been an increase in taxes in the private sector, where professionals will pay up to 23 percent today, the increase in the minimum wage will lead to an increase in the payment of social and health insurance.

In all cases, the situation is very problematic and the economy risks entering even more into the spiral of an inflationary crisis that impoverishes Albanians and increases prices even more. A crisis that is at its dawn and that is impoverishing Albania to enrich only the minority for which this government works.

The real salary bill is still unclear aahtj as well as the resources that will cover it from the budget! The local government has been told that it should increase the salaries without increasing the transfer in the conditions when at least 11 municipalities have financial records in bankruptcy and others have increased the staff to manageable sizes like Tirana!

Can we once and for all focus on real reforms that help the market, increase competition, keep professionals in Albania and think in the long term, not for today?!", writes Tabaku./ CNA.al
