Decisions on salary increases are approved/ Ibrahimaj: This is how the funds

The Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj, has informed that the Council of Ministers has approved the decisions on salary increases.

Asked by journalists where they are getting the money for the salary increase, Ibrahimaj said that the funds are expected to be collected from the increase in income and from internal reallocations.

Minister Ibrahimaj underlined that the goal is to reduce the debt and deficit.

 " We approved an important draft law, specifically for the determination of salaries. Today we started and approved several draft decisions for salary increases for the health, education and security sectors, specifically for prison police, guards and firefighters. Pursuant to the decision made earlier, from April 1st, the salaries of public administration support employees will also increase.

This increase will be divided into 2 phases. So they increase with the salaries of 2023, while there will be an increase in 2024 as well. The annual cost, which will be in full for the year 2025, of the salary increase is at the level of 38 billion ALL.

These funds are expected to be collected either from increased revenues or from internal reallocations. We will continue to reduce the debt and deficit while providing fiscal sustainability. For 2023, we had predicted salary increase policy and it was worth 2.4 billion lek that affected education, health and IT.

 The salary increase also comes as a result of the inflationary crisis, so there are several items provided in the budget that accommodate the salary increase and the additional cost expected for this year", said Ibrahimaj./ CNA.al
