Besim Ndregjoni, one of the names proposed by the Democratic Party for the position of People's Advocate, has accused the two major political forces, the DP and the SP, of playing a "shameful game" behind the scenes.

The leader of the Union of Former Political Persecuted called on the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, to openly decide "whether he is with the anti-communists or not."

"As a representative of 40% of the Albanian people, I address the DP and the SP: shame on you, because you are playing a shameful game for the People's Advocate. After 30 years, an anti-communist candidate emerges and you play the Kim Film game of the 50s, when anti-communist Albanians were punished by anti-Albanian agents. History is repeating itself. The two main parties hate anti-communism and want the People's Advocate not to be held by anti-communists, but by the 'servants, scoundrels, and scoundrels' of communist ideology. We are not seeking positions and titles; we have washed the titles with blood. I appeal to Dr. Berisha: today is the day to decide whether you are with anti-communism or communism. It is time to show yourself," said Ndregjoni.

Ndregjoni accuses that the DP and the SP are secretly working to push Endri Shabani's candidacy for Ombudsman towards election.

"From February 2025 until the end of the session in July, the DP has unified my name as a candidate for Ombudsman. From the information we have, it turns out that it has been determined this way. The DP has the right to nominate only one candidate, because there are 50 deputies – not two names, which require 56 signatures. From reliable sources we learn that the DP and the majority are playing a game. They have accepted that the six candidacies signed by the DP deputies, including that of Endri Shabani, chairman of the Communist Party, will go through the vote. This is a shame, a violation of the law. We, the anti-communists, do not ask for alms; we represent 40% of the population. In July 2025, the Parliament took away my right to be elected, as in the 'Kim Film game' against the anti-communist candidate. I meet all the criteria and I have not violated any law. The Ombudsman has the status of the President, not of the Court of Justice." "High, and age is not mentioned anywhere in the Constitution," he declared.

He addressed the DP again with a call:

"Berisha should remain as he did in July. If not, the DP has sold the candidacy of the People's Advocate and is betraying the stratum that has been voting for him for 35 years. The DP should only submit one name. The majority wants to dictate who the DP will propose - this is a national shame. In 2011, when Igli Totozani was elected, the SP proposed him and the DP voted for him without reservation. Today the SP is seeking an agreement to elect the People's Advocate only according to its wishes. These are scandals of lawmakers who are not ashamed."

Ndregjoni added that he represents "the blood of 6,000 missing persons, 37,000 prisoners and 300 children of Tepelena who lost their lives," while emphasizing that Albania is "the only country in the world that has not condemned the crimes of communism by law, has not made a fair law for property owners and has not guaranteed the rights of those who have no opportunity to be represented."
