"DP will not recognize the electoral farce"/ Këlliçi: 25

Democratic Party (DP) elected MP Belind Këlliçi spoke after the DP Presidency meeting.

Invited to the Task Force show, Këlliçi stated that the DP unanimously decided not to recognize the electoral farce.

He stated that 25 mandates were stolen from the DP.

"The decision-making has been in union and it is clear that the DP cannot recognize this electoral farce that took place on May 11. But, because we are determined to fight and the decision-making has once again been in unison to leave no front empty, the DP will undoubtedly use every space, every medium where resistance can be made to this already installed autocracy that is turning into a modern dictatorship that seizes the citizen by the mouth.

Our position is clear... We claim that 25 mandates have been stolen from us without a doubt, that is why we claim and we are clear and we have evidence and facts at our disposal, we have made them public and will continue to make them public that at least 25 mandates have been stolen from the DP. That is why we are saying that we must go to Parliament, where we were entitled to 75 seats, in the meantime you cannot give up these 50 that you have that were given to you by half a million Albanian citizens, since you are the only hope that change can be made in this country.

So, of course, the majority and the DP tried the experiment of burning mandates in 2019 and the effects have been catastrophic in terms of the subsequent progress not only of parliamentary life but also of the Democratic Party, because the cost has been extraordinary. Do not forget that we have adopted a resolution in the National Assembly of April 2022, where the act of burning mandates and boycotting local elections, what happened in 2019, was condemned forever, while it has already been cited in the DP statute that this mechanism in our institutions can no longer exist.

"So, having said this in Parliament, the DP will be there to defend the interests of citizens, to be an opposition, to be transparent for citizens, to talk about the problems of citizens. To talk not only about political issues that are the alpha and omega of everything that happens in our country, but also to talk about the troubles of ordinary citizens, about the economic issue, about the depopulation of Albania, about hospitals that do not have medicine," said Këlliçi./ CNA
