The Democratic Party's candidate for Tirana, Ilda Zhulali, shared her comments today regarding the post-election situation. Invited to a television studio, Zhulali stated that the Democratic Party was facing a regime in the race.

Zhulali said that the May 11 parliamentary elections were a farce and that voters were pressured.

According to Zhulal, Albania is an electoral autocracy and the DP has stood for a repressive state.

"The DP entered the elections with a very good team, with a fantastic program, but we were faced with a regime that alienates the will of the citizens. I did not foresee that Rama's repressive force would reach this point. Gangs in the polling stations put pressure on voters. Citizens' ID cards were taken away, today we saw a case of a "Bulgarian train". The vote is alienated and Albania has shown that it is an electoral autocracy. The elections are a farce and it is not that they matter anymore. We are heading towards a dictatorship, of a political caste in collaboration with organized crime. The DP has stood for a repressive state, but the opposition cannot turn into the police, nor into the Prosecutor's Office nor into the court. Today, we do not have a party-state, but we have a party-state, in collaboration with the mafia, here the mafia has its own state, the mafia has its own institutions and this power of crime descends into all Albanian families", - said Zhulali. /CNA
