DP, amendment for the recognition of any biometric document of the country where

The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has announced that he has submitted an amendment to the Parliament for the recognition of biometric documents of the country where immigrants live.

"Before I start, I'll give Floriana an answer to a question she asked me on her way in. She told me: they tell me you came to the headquarters on foot, and why didn't you tell them to film you for a bit?"

I'm telling you now: the walking of the man who walks the most is not news, that's why I didn't announce it. I have it, I walk, I walk. Today I'm here about a fundamental problem of this electoral process.

For the first time in 34 years, Albanian emigration and diaspora, by law and decisions of the Constitutional Court, were given the opportunity to vote, to exercise their constitutional right.

Of course, exercising this right from all countries of the world where Albanians are located could not be a perfect process, but today in the digital age, this is a completely possible process.

We managed to define rules acceptable to both sides, so that the process is not controlled by one side. The process of diaspora registration and voting. In this process, our citizens abroad encounter real difficulties.

Difficulties, which are dictated by the requirements set, especially for the address, so that there are no abuses. The application process itself goes through several stages. We monitor it in every aspect.

Now, since Edi Rama failed to establish his control over this online process as well, he is using other absolutely reprehensible, unconstitutional methods to control the process.

In view of this process, the CEC has requested that the dates for the presentation of parties, coalitions, and candidates be moved, and we, although we are not convinced that it is something necessary, but again, to give a space and opportunity for a greater stance in this process, we have expressed our willingness to engage in the necessary legal changes required for this process.

The CEC has also proposed a practice that has been followed in all other elections, except in Himara, which it rejected because it wanted to deal with Vangjel Tavo at all costs, a traitor to both Albanians and Greeks, but also a loyalist of Edi Rama's mafia.

So, the CEC requested to extend the deadline for Albanian documents and this has happened in other elections as well. This is a periodic act that comes out every time elections come and this is normal.

But now, for evil reasons, seeing the hatred that has erupted against Edi Rama and the Socialist Party in the diaspora, Edi Rama seeks to punish, according to our calculations, at least two-thirds of Albanians abroad, who are settled in these countries and have biometric documents from the countries where they live.

The truth is that Albanian documents are mostly held by those who have not been legalized in the countries where they live, and there are statistics for these people. These are less than a third.

We have prepared the amendment and we demand by law that every biometric document of the country where they live be recognized for them. Be it an ID card or a passport.

Beyond this requirement, we can never agree to exclude two-thirds of our immigrants and diaspora from voting.

We think this is an unprecedented act, a discrimination that has no basis whatsoever.

There is only one fundamental criterion that every citizen who must exercise the right to vote must respect: Albanian citizenship.

All the rest then, must be answered, but the Albanian ID card should never be superior to the American, Canadian, German, Belgian, etc. ID card.

"So, by presenting such a claim, Edi Rama proves the terrible fear he has of the vote of emigration and the diaspora due to the allergy these citizens have expressed towards Edi Rama's drug regime," Berisha said./ CNA
