The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, at the conclusion of the Conference of Speakers, stated the reasons why the opposition's requests for a motion with debate regarding the government program and for the resolution condemning the genocide in Kosovo were rejected.

Regarding the motion, Balla said that according to the regulation, the motion must contain only one issue and the opposition has been asked to reformulate it, giving them a deadline of October 9, when the Plenary Session will convene.

"I think you should read the minutes of the meeting. I want to guarantee that the majority is ready to vote on proposals coming from the opposition, such as motions, a vote of confidence motion or an interpellation, but it must be according to the regulations. It must be for one issue, while it was for a group of 6 such issues.

I have asked my opposition colleagues to bring the request because they asked for integration, as we will have a debate on the progress report since we are in October.

"I hope that by Thursday, October 9, my colleagues will have reformulated the request," Balla declared.

Regarding the request for a vote on a resolution condemning the Serbian genocide in Kosovo, Balla took issue with Democratic MP Tritan Shehu, saying that he is trying to whitewash his political biography after breaking the oil embargo in 1999 and supplying Milosevic. Balla said that Albania has condemned the crimes in Kosovo since 1999 and asking for it now is a mistake.

"We support the KLA commanders and there is a leader who clearly supports them, which is Edi Rama, and on the other hand there is a muteness. This is a request that has come from a certain MP repeatedly.

Albania has condemned all genocidal acts since 1999 and has not waited 26 years. In 1999 alone, there were 4 or 5 resolutions referring to the war in Kosovo, the Assembly convened immediately upon being notified.

On October 12, 2023, we had a resolution condemning the attack in Banjska and we didn't wait 26 years to do this, this is an effort that has nothing to do with reality. I have said that these things need to be done together, but if you look back after 26 years, it is a mistake, a mistake to come here and tell those who were here in 1996 that you didn't do a good job when they did it.
