"Democracy in Albania is dead"/ Bushati: Media and justice must play

Analyst Andi Bushati said today that Albanians do not live in a democratic system.

Invited to a show on 'Syri TV', Bushati also focused on international reports on Albanian politics, emphasizing that threats from criminals or state employees must be denounced.

Bushati also mentioned the role of the media and justice in the functioning of democracy in a country.

"From the entire report, which has many repetitive things, I highlighted an expression about foreign investors being blackmailed simultaneously by the administration, the media and organized crime. The very fact that it includes us, the media, is terrible."

I will not dwell on this, but I will dwell on what this ranking reflects.
In a democratic society, when you are threatened by either a criminal or a state employee, you will either go to the media to report it, or you will go to justice. When neither the media nor the courts give you a solution, then I say: even if we did not have an opposition and a government, but we entered this data into an artificial intelligence and said: “In a country where a businessman is threatened and does not find justice in any court, is this a democratic country or an autocratic regime?” I have not done the test, but any AI program immediately finds out what democracy is.

We no longer live in a democracy. But the more we continue to debate this, the more evidence we gather in this regard. If a businessman, who also has the power of money, cannot find justice, where will an ordinary citizen find it?

"Let's take the report and make it part of the debate, adapt it to what interests us because it is a clear confirmation that, unfortunately, democracy is dead here," Bushati said. /CNA
