"The candidate for Tirana should be intellectual and universally

Former candidate on the Durrës list for the Democratic Party, Aulon Kalaja, said today that the opposition should have already released the name of a candidate for the Tirana Municipality race.

In a television appearance, Kalaja stated that the best solution is for the candidacy to be an intellectual, charismatic and widely accepted person by the opposition.

"There has been a 44-week protest action by the opposition and on February 10 we have the arrest of Veliaj. The opposition should not have only had the task of protesting against Veliaj, but should have also put forward the name of one of its candidates. I think that the candidacy should come from the intellectual part, people who have charisma and do not have business with the government and should be people who live in this city, who know the troubles and problems of this city. This person that I am talking about should have a veto even beyond the Democratic Party, if the option is to take over the Municipality of Tirana. I think that the DP is a great party and the option is victory and not just participation", said Kalaja.

Kalaja also criticized the Democratic Party, saying that it needs political clarity.  

"I have a criticism for the Democratic Party, it should remove the phrase that there is no election with Edi Rama. Because then we are calling on people not to go out to vote, because if there is no election with Edi Rama, then why should there be a vote? We need to be more politically clear," said Kalaja. /CNA
