Journalist Mentor Kikia spoke today about the legal process related to the arrested former mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.  

Invited to the show 'Log.', Kikia said that the Veliaj case, with its criminal and political dimension

Kikia stated that the date of the elections for the Municipality of Tirana will be decided after the appeal is processed in the Constitutional Court.

"So far, the case is criminal and heavily loaded with political content due to the conspiracy that it was politically staged, fueled by the statements that Veliaj made time and again. It now has 2 dimensions, the criminal dimension and the political one.

The latter is on the table with his dismissal and Rama's rush to announce the candidate to appoint the campaign manager and headquarters. The PS has also started the campaign and everyone was ready to bet that Veliaj would not appeal since everyone knows that appealing to the Constitutional Court stops the election process.

The political dimension has already been put on the table and despite the predictions that Veliaj is calculating to choose the smallest loss, for me it is not a matter of challenge, but his dismissal is a political issue since his appeal will determine the time when the elections will be held.
