The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, is having a meeting with the heads of the Police of Korça. During a statement to the media, he also commented on the serious event in Durrës, where a 19-year-old killed her father and then buried him in the apartment of the house, because he was going to betroth her against her will. 

The minister emphasized that he encourages every girl, every woman, mother of this country to denounce cases of violence. He said that centers will be established where abused women will be treated. 

"The year 2023 has been a year with serious incidents of crime within the family, and also an increased number of domestic violence has come because the police have tried to identify all the cases that we have had alerts. I want to communicate with you the fact that we already have a completely different protocol from the state police regarding the first finding of a concern or a complaint regarding domestic violence. It's mainly about gender-based violence, sexual violence, and I encourage every girl, every woman, mother of this country to report cases of violence and I want to guarantee that not only the state police in terms of their share, but also other institutions, you have seen that we have started a new approach as far as belongs to the properties seized by crime and corruption. We will try to put a part of these properties at the service of non-governmental organizations, which will turn into shelters or houses for abused girls and women, and this battle is not a battle that can only the state police will win", said Balla. 

Balla underlined that the State Police is there to make the first intervention and to bring violators to justice. 

"We approved this week at the government meeting, the new law to amend the law on the prefect, to establish local public security councils through which we will guarantee a better coordination of all security institutions, law enforcement agencies and institutions others and for more of a proactive approach in the prevention of any criminal event", said Balla./ CNA
