Law on Protected Areas/Zhupa: Serves oligarchs

Deputy Ina Zhupa spoke about the approval in the Assembly by the majority of the law on Protected Areas.

Zhupa said that this law is at the service of the oligarchs next to Prime Minister Edi Rama and a massacre of the environment.

She stated that the law violates many conventions, such as the one of Berne, to which Albania adheres and which are related to the protection and conservation of nature.

"As you followed, this session today started with a civil society protest, because today in the plenary session a law was passed, which is ultimately the destruction of the Protected Areas in our country. This law is at the service of the oligarchs who are close to Rama and in itself is a massacre of the environment.

This law does nothing but remove the protection of the Protected Areas and turn these areas into construction sites, which are signed 'fap e fap e fap' by Rama. We will do everything to stop this in the Constitutional Court.

The EU has reacted to this law, because it violates many conventions like the one of Berne, where Albania adheres and are related to the protection and conservation of nature, and it is a custom law since the project in Divjakë-Karavasta is ready to be built. Someone was assured by Rama that he would be able to build, since he would not throw money into projects.

Today, if you cut down a tree in the forest, you are punished, if you kill a wild animal, you are punished, but if today you destroy and build in the middle of Protected Areas where you kill and damage endlessly, you are called a strategic investor. This is the standard, we have a law for a moratorium and a ban on deforestation and we have a law that destroys Protected Areas and how two laws stand in opposition to each other, only Mirela Kumbaro knows who is the most failed minister of Culture and Environment today and Rama, who is treating Albania as a booty. Laws that affect beyond one mandate of the government will have to be expressed by the people with a referendum," the deputy emphasized./ CNA
