Minister of Justice, Lamallari: The new Criminal Code will address 54 European

The Minister of Justice, Besfort Lamallari, in his speech in the Assembly, focused on the new Criminal Code after the interest of several deputies.

Lamallari stated that this new code aims to address 54 European Union directives, to arrive at a product that guarantees inclusiveness and transparency.

 "I do not think that the Criminal Code is measured by the number of provisions it has, but essentially by the quality and guarantees it offers in protecting the public interest, citizens, the economy and preventing criminal tendencies."

There is no need to make references to various countries of the European Union that have Codes with 700 or 800 provisions, such as Italy, Spain, etc. How the provisions are harmonized in a Code is a matter of legislative technique.

"It is important that we address the 54 European Union directives that must become part of the domestic legal framework. And in the end, we have a product that guarantees inclusiveness and transparency," Lamallari said. /CNA
