The Political Leader of the Socialist Party for the Diaspora, Taulant Balla, spoke about the news of Berisha's $6 million lobbying in the US, which according to him is to remove a stain that can never disappear.

Balla spoke from Omonia Square in Athens, where he said that the SP has always had a strong connection with the diaspora. The SP is the only party that has had continuous contact with the diaspora in Greece, Balla said in an interview.

Balla called on all Albanians in Greece and beyond to vote on May 11 to complete Albania's European journey.

Balla emphasized that the diaspora is better able to understand the great change that has occurred in the country, as the diaspora affects this opinion every day.

How is it possible that a politician who is under accusation of corruption, the US declared him non grata precisely for corruption in large amounts and sabotaging democracy, today this man, without any explanation, takes out 6 million dollars. Where did he find this money, to remove this black stain, even though you know very well that this kind of stain is never removed. In 2013, the diaspora had an important role in that historic victory of the SP to overthrow the regime of Sali Berisha at that time. From Omonia Square I address all our compatriots, not only here in Athens, but throughout Greece and the world, that today we have reached the end of what we started. We started to seek Albania as the whole of Europe and your vote on May 11 is precisely the vote that will make Albanians proud to see our red and black flag in the middle of Brussels. Thank you the Greek diaspora for the extraordinary support it has always given to the SP. You mentioned in 2013 how many Albanians went to Albania to vote for the SP, and today every vote of yours is a very important vote to complete the European path, so that we can give your children in Greece the European passport. Since 2022, we have opened talks with the Mitsotakis government to conclude and recognize the contribution of every compatriot, so that their years of work are recognized for pension purposes. The direct benefit of our compatriots is that with the EU passport all the problems end. It should not be seen as a dream like in '91–'92. Now we are just one step away and we will complete it in 2026–2027. We have to wait another 2–3 years. My impression of these meetings is that the diaspora knows how to make the difference very well and understands that the vote on May 11 is a solution between Europe and the pit. There are two offers here: one with the SP and Edi Rama to finally close the EU membership process, and another side. I do not see the DP separated from the small parties. Some of them are the offspring of the DP. Every vote, whether for the owl or for the other members of the swamp, is a vote in the swamp. Sali Berisha is the swamp. He is the owl of the swamp that must be drained on May 11. This is a historical necessity.
