"The previous government criminally sold assets"/ Rama: Full energy

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present today at the meeting organized in Fier with a focus on the energy sector. In his speech, Rama emphasized the necessity of projects in this field.

Rama said that the previous government worked in this sector with the material basis of communism and accused that giving assets to a private company at that time was a criminal act.

"If we had the energy situation that was before this transformation, there are facts that make us quite optimistic about the future of the sector, then the entire future of the sector is optimistic. The fact that today we are talking about a 2-fold increase in domestic production is significant. This is considering that this effort was launched with the material basis of communism. And the assets were given to a private individual, with an argument that in itself is a pure criminal offense," said Rama.

Rama stated that in today's times, there is a need not only to increase energy production, but also to diversify resources, due to climate change.

Rama said that full energy independence in the country will be achieved very soon.

"It is not only the increase in production, but also the diversification of the base, which was only hydro, which has all the necessary vulnerability, without even thinking about climate change. The diversification with 10% that today comes from the sun, with the start of several wind projects, with the innovation that we will be lucky enough to have the water pumping system, I believe we have reason to think that Albania's full energy independence is close", said Rama./CNA
